AV Fistula :

• An arteriovenous (AV) fistula is a connection between an artery and a vein,either naturally occurring or surgically created.

This connection allows blood to flow directly from the artery to the vein, bypassing the capillaries.

In dialysis patients, an AV fistula is surgically created to provide access for hemodialysis.

Improving blood flow and allowing for more efficient treatment.

Symptoms of an AV fistula :

• Purplish, Bulging Veins: Similar to varicose veins, bulging, purplish veins may be visible.

• Fatigue:The body's increased effort to compensate for the fistula can lead to fatigue.

•Heart Failure:In some cases, large fistulas can put a strain on the heart, potentially leading to heart failure.
